How often do you guys dream of being chased?

For me it's at least twice a week.Sometimes I'm being chased by zombies, sometimes it's people, sometimes i don't know who is chasing me. It's just a dark shadowy figure or just a force of anxiety I need to escape from.According to dreammoods.com I could mean that I'm running away from an unpleasent situation or emotion.Or an aspect of myself I just don't want to deal with.As fo zombies in my dreams,I have had dreams of zombies since early childhood. When I was really young I used to dream of mummies waking from their tomb to chase me.Google suggests I feel stressed and overwhelmed by things outside of my control.

I've read that a good way to minimize these dreams is to stop running and face my attacker. I tried this once,it was a man with a knife and he stabbed me with it.I could of sworn I felt pain, but it was probably just me expecting to feel pain so I convinced myself I did.

Although I still have these dreams often, they have taken a slighty different turn from time to time.
I blame it on the rise of zombies tv shows, games and movies in the media.
When I do dream of being chased by zombies it sometimes feels like a game.
The zombies are not so much of a threat.

In any case this is not all the time. Most of my chase dreams are still very scary.
So in addition to facing my attacker I have decided to get the images out of my head and onto canvas.
I will create a series of paintings based on my recurring nightmare in the hopes it will cleanse my mind of the dreams.

Here is progress shot of the first painting in the series

I will be posting the final works right here on my blog as well as progress shots and updates on the other paintings in the series.

Snow storms,asian men and non-profits

Where I live up north (Philly) it's been snowing really bad for the past couple of days. I'm one of those people who can't stand snow, but I love to paint it. So I become a hermit in times like these, I also suffer from a mild case of agoraphobia, which really doesn't help. However I did manage to drag myself out of the house to teach a painting class at Michaels Art And Crafts. One of my students had recently taken a trip to florida and returned with a gift for me. A #1 teacher mug!

Here is the painting I taught during class that day.
Acrylic on canvas board, Grumbacher Academy Acrylic paints
colors used Payne's Grey, Titanium White, Raw Umber, Hookers Green, Cadmium Yellow

Also I have been helping a good friend of mine to raise money for a non-profit called In Our Minds.
The group is raising money to create short films to raise awareness about mental health issues in teens. I also mentioned them in my last blog post.So far we have raised almost 500 dollars for the cause but there is still time. So to help out I created a painting that I plan to sell and donate to this group. I will be selling the original as well as prints of this painting. The original is 11x14

Hey guys sorry about the 30 day challenge I had to switch internet providers and got swamped with tons of work. I have not stopped paintings though and even got my first paid commission!
Colored pencil and acrylic on paper

I've also been doing some work for non profits and was put on to an amazing idea by a friend of mine.
She plans to start up a website for teens dealing with mental health issues. The website will feature narative short films following the issues these kids deal with in their daily lives. It will also feature reasources to teens to get help. So far she has raised over 300 dollars but it's not quite enough. There are still 34 days left to donate and every dollar counts. There are so many teens out there who feel alone and helpless and you can show them your support!
Here is the link to the site if you wish to donate

Day 4
Todays painting is more illustrative than the others. This is a 9x12 acrylic on canvas board.
Colors I used: Payne's Grey, Yellow Ochre,Grumbacher Red,Hookers Green,Titanium White
I also used a glazing medium by Golden to paint the shine of the moon.I wanted the colors of the back and middle ground to be very muted and the figure in the foreground to stand out the most. Even thoguh I still used a muted red color for her dress mixed with a bit of green.

Prints are available here at:http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/alexa-lebron.html

I will not post on the 24th and 25th but on the 26th I post both of the days paintings.

Day 3 of my 30 Day Painting Challenge

9x12 Acrylic on canvas board

I went for a smaller painting today and stuck to the theme of mountains(which I am soft of obsessed with lately) My painting are natural looking landscapes, for the most part, but I do go for a slight element of fantasy. This painting took me about an hour and a half.( not including a quick Oolong Tea break.)

Colors I used where Payne's Grey,Yellow Ochre,Cadmium Yellow,Titanium White,Cerulean Blue,Burnt Seina

Please leave comments and let me know what you think as well as ask questions.
